A drive up the Westfjords to collect a unique book collection during the long, seemingly endless summer days in August was a trip to remember. Lonely roads and a wild, untouched landscape that reminds you over and over how special and beautiful this corner of the world really is. Hours behind the wheel were broken up by spontaneous beach and pool stops, simple picnics, and a short but very necessary run along the shore (the winner shall remain politely unnamed :-)).

Two long working days followed. An extensive, sophisticated book collection was carefully sorted through and packed for its journey back to Reykjavík.

The nearly full-day return drive began in high spirits—and almost ended far too soon. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, our enthusiasm for books had clearly outweighed attention to the fuel status of the car. With just nine kilometres left, in the middle of nowhere, help appeared in the form of a remote guesthouse-farm. Its kind, lovely owner Stella generously shared petrol and a warm soup with two very embarrassed “City Slickers” ;-)
The good news: All books made it finally safely back to Reykjavík and can be found both in the store and online.
