We recently uncovered a small treasure in the shop — a collection of vintage Icelandic cinema programs from the mid-20th century - now available at the bookstore.
These beautifully designed booklets once accompanied film screenings in Reykjavík cinemas such as Laugarásbíó and Austurbæjarbíó. Printed mostly in the 1950s–1970s, they feature striking typography, bold colors, and local Icelandic titles for international films. Each one is a little time capsule from an era when going to the movies was an event.
These aren’t reproductions or posters, but original cinema treasures, frame-worthy, and increasingly hard to find. Whether you’re a film lover, a design nerd, or just someone who appreciates cultural oddities, these pieces make wonderful collectibles and gifts.
