In January we all have the best intentions. New year, new habits, new fitness routines. By March, however, those noble resolutions often begin to fade.
So when Líkamsrækt með Jane Fonda happened to fall into our hands recently, its timing felt almost like a small wink from higher forces :-)

It is the Icelandic edition of Jane Fonda’s famous fitness manual and part of the aerobic fitness phenomenon that swept through the 1980s. Long before streaming workouts and fitness influencers, Jane Fonda was already bringing structured exercise into living rooms around the world. And if anyone doubts the effectiveness of her method...just google and look at her today: still absolutely stunning at 88 - perhaps the best advertisement for her own workout books and videos which became cultural icons of the decade.

Looking through the pages of this copy feels a little like catching a nostalgic glimpse into the golden age of home aerobics.

The book is methodically structured: warm-up stretches, strengthening exercises, sequenced routines explained through step-by-step photographs. The visual instructions are clear, each movement captured in black-and-white images that guide the reader from one position to the next in an unmistakable 80s aesthetic: fitted workout leotards, leg warmers, and impressively voluminous, gravity-defying hairstyles ;-)

So after flipping through the pages, we felt newly motivated to hold on to our New Year’s fitness goals. And for anyone whose resolutions may also be starting to lose momentum: we have plenty of books in the shop that might help rekindle them. From classic fitness manuals like this one to other sports and exercise guides, there’s always something on the shelves to get you moving again
