A suspense novel by Niels Meyn.
Prince Basil first appeared in a book in Icelandic in 1939 at the Household History Museum, edited by Árni Ólafsson. It is believed that Páll Sveinsson, a primary school teacher in Hafnarfjörður, Icelandicized Prince Basil for the most part. The book contained six stories, book number two was published in 1940 and the third book in 1941 and contained five stories. In the immediate aftermath of this publication, special issues with illustrated covers, usually in one color, were published, and each issue contained one story. The first issue was called Konuræninginn. A total of 52 issues were published from 1941 to 1947, it is believed. In the last issue published in this edition, The Twin Sisters, Prince Basil, who was a known misogynist, got married and his adventures ended after that.
Around 1960, the third edition of Prince Basil was published, and it was a reprint of the same issues that were in the books on the one hand and on the other hand a few loose issues, a total of 23 issues. The Blue Mist was the first issue of that edition and The Dove was number 23. Then, around 1970, two issues of Prince Basil were reprinted in a modern edition, and they are generally not highly regarded by true Prince Basil fans.
