In 1908, a special collection of folk tales was published in Akureyri, called \u003cb\u003eÞjóðtrú og þjóðsagnir\u003c\/b\u003e . The printer Oddur Björnsson had taken care of the collections for this and paid for the publication, but Sir Jónas Jónasson á Hrafnagil prepared the collection for printing and wrote a significant preface about folktales and folklore and their cultural and historical value. Oddur Björnsson's Folklore Collection has long been sold out, and there has been a great and growing demand for it, especially in recent years, as it is the next most difficult to obtain. Not long ago, a parcel of folktale manuscripts was found in Oddur Björnsson's belongings, which clearly belonged to his first collection. There were quite a few storytellers and scribes, including Oddur himself. But most of the tales were recorded by Benedikt Guðmundsson (1879-1919), a teacher from Hringveri in Tjörnes, and Theódór Friðriksson, a writer (1876-1948), in the years 1907-1911. It is obvious that Sir Jónas has read the manuscript over, corrected spelling errors, and adjusted the wording as best he could.
