She was unaware of the invasion, being only 7 years old.\u003cbr\u003e Hitler commanded his troops in the immediate vicinity of Margarete's home, but after the defeat in Africa and the hopeless German advance eastward, the Russians came. Margarete ended up in a Russian prison camp at the age of 13, her home was destroyed, her family was forcibly moved to all corners, and the Poles were ordered to Pomerania. \u003cbr\u003eMargarete became one of the victims of the new political order that emerged in Europe after World War II and which lasted for 45 years in the shadow of the Cold War between the superpowers.
