Geirdal.

Here, in addition to the original poems, are Guðmundur's translations of poems by Axel Karlfeldt. - Chr. KF Molbech. - Rudolf Nielsen.
Guðmundur E. Geirdal was born at Brekka in the Gufudalssveit region in 1885. His parents were Eyjólfur Bjarnason, a farmer in Múli in Gilsfjörður, and María Bjarnadóttir in Kveingrjót. Guðmundur worked all the usual jobs at sea and in the countryside during his youth, but then attended the Teachers' College and graduated from there in 1912. From there, he taught in the winters and held various other jobs in the summers. He was, among other things, a police officer in Ísafjörður, a County Clerk for a few years, and later a harbor treasurer for many years. Guðmundur published four books of poetry and one adventure book for children. Guðmundur was a very musical man and had a great interest in music. Various composers have composed songs to Guðmundur's poems, but the best known is probably Sigvald Kaldalón's song to Guðmundur's poem Þú, eina hjartens yndið mitt.
