She was a part-time teacher of Danish at the Akureyri Secondary School from 1921-1923 and also taught piano during these years. From 1932-1937 she was the principal of the women's school in Blönduós and again from 1953-1967. She was the principal of the Reykjavík Housewives' School from its founding in 1941 until 1953.
