They first lived in Akureyri, but moved to Copenhagen around 1930, where they lived for ten years. Elín died in Reykjavík on March 26, 1987.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eElín was widely read, had great storytelling skills and an interest in mystical matters. She wrote a lot but published little in her early life and is not included in Borgfirski ljóður, which was published in 1947. That year, however, her poem \"If I Were an Angel\" was published to the tune of Hallgrímur Helgason. Elín published a total of three books of poetry, all at her own expense. The first, Söngur í sefi, was published in 1955, Rautt lauf í mosa in 1958 and ten years later Skeljar á sandi in 1968.
