Compiled and published by Bogi Th. Melsteð.

In Lögrétta, January 22, 1927, there is a discussion of Bogi Th. Melsteð's book about his sister Stefanía. It says; "About this book there has been
next to silent. She came here in
bookstore just in time for Christmas.
Mr. Bogi Th. Melsteð has composed it and published it in memory
about his sister.
Stefanía Melsteð was born in
Klausturhólar, August 8, 1864.
Her parents were Sjera Jón.
Pálsson Melsteð Provost and Mrs.
Steinunn Bjarnadóttir Melsted.
Stefania grew up in Þingvellir
at the home of Mr. Simon Bech and Mrs.
To his paternal sister Anna. Was it
a model home described as a model home. Autumn
In 1874, Stefanía entered the Reykjavík Primary School and stayed there for two winters. She then stayed with
Mrs. Thordis Thorsteinsen, who
was also her paternal aunt.
She stayed with her often in the winters since then. When Stefania was on
At the age of 14, she fell ill with an illness.
those who finally brought her to death.

In the spring of 1879, Stefanía moved to
Kárastaðir with his foster mother, Mrs. Anna, who was then a widow.
But in the autumn of 1886 she went to her mother at Klausturhólar and
was born there on Ascension Day, 1889.

The book relies heavily on letters, both from Stefania and to
her. In addition, she moves
testimony of various people who knew
her, including Olafia
Jóhannsdóttir and Mrs. Þórunnar
Richardsdóttir in Höfn, both of whom were her great friends.
The book also contains a beautiful afterword by Dr. Valdimar Briem.
The poet describes Stefania in this way:
way:

"You sick child, you healthy hero,

You light a pure light on the sad,

you pale lily, beautiful rose,

"You fallen reed, you strong oak."

Stefania's life was not long.
not very eventful. She died on
25 years old and was suffering from an illness in
11 years. But despite that, I understood
she leaves behind beautiful vegetation in her tracks
She was a model girl in every way, because she was
intelligence and nobility combined. She
had a unique way of making
little to do with their trials.

Did she get what she wanted?
most desired: to become more
joy but sorrow for their loved ones
and to all those who were her contemporaries, — despite the great suffering and sadness of the illness.

This is unanimous testimony.
of all the people who knew anything
to Stefania. She was in that group of fortunate people who care for all that,
the best and most sublime in everything
heart.

This is the value of the book. It will be a welcome guest for Stefania's family. But she
also has a message for everyone
those who want to read books, and
Bogi Melsteð thanks him for his
work.

Old Thingvellir.
