"understanding the miraculous light" is a collection of sixteen articles about Þórberg Þórðarson, his work and interests. Most of the articles have their roots in lectures from 2008 when it was commemorated, both at the University of Iceland and at Þórbergssetur in Suðursveit, that 120 years had passed since Þórberg's birth.
There was little that was irrelevant to Þórbergur Þórðarson, and this collection looks at him from various perspectives. Topics include his family and ancestry, his interactions with a shipowner and a priest, his interest in Esperanto and connections with foreign avant-garde movements, mysticism and yoga practice, not to mention his manuscripts and published works, and the threads that lead from them to domestic and foreign works.
