Katrín Jósepsdóttir (1914-1994), ran a shop and had a sewing studio at Norðurgata 40 in Akureyri. She was often called Kata the seamstress. Kata was much appreciated for her work, wrote poems and stories and dabbled in painting. The Akureyri Art Museum received her work as a gift and an exhibition of her work was held in 1997. Haraldur Ingi Haraldsson's exhibition catalogue states, among other things, that Kata's art is so-called Naive art, which is a unique form of expression and never learned. The one who carries it in their heart possesses a pure gem of childhood and sincerity. It is manifested both in the special technique and the unbridled joy of storytelling, which possesses a unique beauty.
