Austan Elivoga. Poems by Böðvar Guðmundsson. Here is Böðvar's first book of poetry. Published by Ivar Orgland Library. Njörður P. Njarðvík has brought the book to Ivar.

Valley area

She creeps from the sea into the valley on dewy shoes.

and spreads its down on the hollows and green paths

of the towns, covering them one by one,

a vast ocean, which can neither be stirred nor churned

beach or seaweed.

She rushes to the steep and leaves.

with cold, burdensome hands on guard and search,

Then the boy walks out of the rock, a brown-haired troll,

Slopes and hillsides pull in dizzying falls.

She misleads the shepherd who seeks sheep and sees

the black elf children playing in open fields,

and hears the scum wail, knows that in a hollow

The ugly little rascal translates as "nasty" and "far"

on the same paths to the river.

Or she will reject

above a steep stream, a white waterfall

emerges from the canyon back above the edge.

The loneliest of all earthly giants

She roams all night long across the wide heaths

and searches in the peat bogs for long-lost traces

of past people,

retreats aimlessly on the road

early, but gives living grasses to drink

sun-drenched tears lie.
