Jóhann Pétur was born in Grundargerði in Blönduhlíð, Skag. Parents Guðmundur Jónsson and kh Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir who lived in many places. Farmer in Stapi in Tungusveit 1944-1947 and again most of the time in the years 1952-1986. Jóhann worked as a builder for years, built livestock and residential houses in Skagafjörður, Húnaþing and elsewhere. One of the best-known hagððings in the country, worked extensively with the Iðunni Poet's Association for two decades from 1988, worked with Sigurður, a veterinarian in Grafarholt on the publication of Vísnaþáttur and singles and hosted annual hagððinga meetings from 1989 - 2012 with his friends. Jói has published 2 books of poetry and short stories: Axarsköft 2006 and Ný axarsköft 2011. Jóhann died on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020. (www.bragi.arnastofnun.is).
