Behind the Sea. A selection of poems by Jónas Guðlaugsson. Hrafn Jökulsson published and wrote the foreword. - I want to cut my hereditary ties!

Bak við hafið contains 40 poems by Jónas Guðlaugsson (1887-1916), who passed away at the turn of the century as a very promising poet. Jónas moved to Denmark in his late twenties and became one of the young Icelandic poets who made a memorable impact on the Danish literary world. He was only 28 years old, but by then he had published three books of poetry in Icelandic and three in Danish, as well as other works of fiction. Jónas wrote the poems in this book when he was in his twenties; they are woven with a wonderfully artistic sensitivity from the warm emotions, big dreams and unbridled desires of a young man. Hrafn Jökulsson writes an introduction about Jónas's life and poetry.
