Bluebells. Poem by Guðrún Valdimarsdóttir.
Guðrún Valdimarsdóttir from Teigur in Vopnafjörður was born in 1920 in Braunahvammur in Vopnafjörður. Her parents were Guðfinna Þorsteinsdóttir (Erla the poet) and Pétur Valdimar Jóhannesson. Guðrún completed traditional compulsory schooling, but at the age of seventeen she went to the Housewives' School in Hallormsstaður and studied there for two winters.
Guðrún married Þorsteinn Sigurðsson, a master carpenter, and lived in Selfoss for most of her life.
Bláklukkur is Guðrún's first book, but poems by her have previously appeared in the books - Raddiar að austan. - Ljóðurðinga. - Huldumál - the thought of Eastfjords women and in Vængjatök - the thought of southern women.
