Blue Night. Poetry of the Icelandic Arts Festival 1996.
The book contains a selection of 525 poems submitted to the 1996 Arts Festival poetry competition, in addition to the three prize-winning poems.

The book is named after a poem by Gunnar Harðarson, who won first prize in the poetry competition. Second prize went to Þórður Helgason and third prize went to Ragnar Ingi Aðalsteinsson, but a total of 46 poets have poems in the book. The jury, composed of Kristján Árnason, Silja Aðalsteinsdóttir and Vilborg Dagbjartsdóttir, says in their introduction: "As can be seen from the selection, most of the topics that have appealed to poets were discussed: love, death, the relationship between man and nature, the relationship between man and man; here are poems that refer to Icelandic ancient sagas and other classical literature and history, and others that refer directly to the conditions of modern man. They are heartfelt or funny, dark or light; most people can find something to their liking".
