The Autobiography of Sigurður Magnússon, a physician, was published in 1985 under the supervision of the poet Hannes Pétursson. I cannot find this edition on www.gegnir.is.
Sigurður Magnússon was born in Viðvík in Viðvík district in Skagafjörður in 1866. His parents were Magnús Árnason, a farmer and carpenter at Hjaltastaðir in Blönduhlíð, in Viðvík and at Enni in Höfðaströnd and lastly in Reykjavík, and his wife Vigdís Ólafsdóttir, a housewife. Sigurður's brother was Ólafur, a provost and a large farmer in Arnarbæl, and Sigurður's other brother was Jósef Gottferd Blöndal.
Sigurður graduated from the Lærði School in 1887. He completed a journeyman's degree in carpentry the same year and a medical degree from the Reykjavík Medical School in 1891. He worked in hospitals in Copenhagen, was a district physician based in Patreksfjörður from 1899-1923. He studied dentistry in Denmark and was a physician and dentist in Reykjavík for a while, a physician and dentist in Seyðisfjörður from 1924-1928. then a physician in Ólafsfjörður from 1928-1933, but then moved to Reykjavík and was a physician at the Grund Nursing Home. Siguður died in September 1940.
