Carta Marina. A map and a description of the Nordic countries, yet the underbara ting dom där finns. In facsimile and translation published by Erik Gamby.
The Carta marina is the first map of the Nordic countries to both show a more or less natural topography and include place names. The Swede Olaus Magnus worked on the map in Rome for more than 12 years in connection with his book Historia de gentibus septentrionalibus (History of the Nordic Peoples). The Carta marina was printed in 1539 in Venice with a brief description of the countries in Latin, German and Italian.
