Hobbies. (My life story). Written by Benedikt Gröndal.
By nature I was a rascal and a loner, inclined to swear and swear words, but not to curse, because we never heard of that; I did not learn that until school and mostly in Reykjavík from women; although my parents loved me, they did not show me gentle gestures, nor a friendly attitude, I became a loner early on, and this has determined my entire course later and been the cause of the seriousness that I am accustomed to keeping at the bottom of my mental intelligence tank. I was often told how ugly, clumsy and lazy I was, but I do not remember ever receiving any praise; of course I deserved this criticism; but I had no encouragement. Everything I did and have done since, I have done completely without encouragement. I started to build, as children do; Then a lecturer came up to me one day and asked, "What are you building, my boy?" "I'm building a barn," I said with a deep sigh, but the lecturer must have thought the answer was useless and left.
Wonderful book.
