Didda's stories. A Reykjavík boy tells the story. Didda's life and games. Summer in the countryside and on herring, winter, spring and autumn in Vesturbær and Blesugróf. Kristinn Snæland tells the story.
Kristinn Snæland, Diddi, tells of his years growing up in Reykjavík, where a lot of things were going on. He was lucky enough to be sent to the countryside. It was a blessing for him, like many others. This was in the 1940s-1950s, when Iceland was changing completely.

The author says, among other things, in the preface:

"I may disappoint those who expect me to tell of evil deeds, hunger, poverty, slavery, or beatings. Fortunately, all this time passed almost as blissful as summer and sunshine. This is how I saw, lived, and learned during those revolutionary years."
