Cheap food. Instructions for cooking herring and mussels. Translated by Matthías Ólafsson, consultant. Introduction by the translator.
The introduction states that the book is largely based on Norwegian pamphlets. One of them is called Billig mat, Opskrifter paa retter af Sild , edited by Antonette Balchen, while the other is called Opskrifter paa Retter af Blaaskjæl and is without an author.
This publication, Cheap Food, is published by the Icelandic Fisheries Association to promote increased consumption of herring and mussels. Mussels in particular are an underutilized resource that has so far been used almost exclusively for bait. But mussels are delicious food even when simply cooked.
A good copy, unbound. A rarely seen booklet.
