Civic Service by Hermann Jónasson. Second printing.
Hermann Jónasson was born in Víðikeri in Bárðardalur in 1858, died in 1923. He graduated in agriculture from Hólar in 1884. He then spent some time in Denmark, studying at the Agricultural University there for six months.

Worker and freelancer until 1882. Principal of the People's School in Hléskógar in the Höfðahverfi district 1887—1888. Principal of the Agricultural School in Hólar 1888—1896. Farmer in Þingeyri 1896—1905. Councilor of Laugarness Hospital 1905—1910. Then he devoted himself to writing. Lived in Ólafsvík and Reykjavík alternately 1910—1917, in Vesturheim 1917—1922 and then in Reykjavík for the rest of his life.

Was abroad in the winter of 1903-1904, sent by the Icelandic Agricultural Society to study the treatment of salted meat and seek a market for it. Founder of the Agricultural Journal 1887. Supervising auditor of the national accounts 1906 and 1907.
