This is an informative, entertaining and beautiful book that describes human life in these settlements, which are now deserted, as they were. In the past, there were many people there and people fought a heroic battle against the harsh forces of nature and difficult transportation, but everyone survived quite well by the standards of that time. Many people make their way to these settlements every summer and have firm roots there. Although no one has a permanent residence there anymore, one thing has not changed, it is always beautiful in the Fjords. - There are about 900 pictures in the book, including pictures of drawings by Grímur Sigurðsson from Jökulsá of the old farms in Flatey, Fjords and Flateyjardalur.
