Four Hands. Poem by Halfdan Ármann Björnsson.
The author was born at Hraunkot in Aðaldalur, on December 2, 1933, and will therefore turn seventy in 2003, and this book is published to mark the occasion.
His schooling consisted of a three-month children's boarding school for four winters, a two-year study at Laugaskóli, which ended with a national exam, and a one-winter stay at a Norwegian folk high school. He worked until adulthood on his parents' farm. He was a boarding school teacher in Tjörnes and in Reykjahvervi for four winters. He started farming with his wife and in-laws at Hjarðarból in Aðaldalur in 1960 and has always been associated with that farm.
The poetry that appears here was mainly created over a period of approximately 40 years during daily work, mostly in the barn at Hjarðarból, scribbled down on the weighing slips of the milk truck, feed mixture bags or other things that came to hand. (Cover text).
