The Holy River. Poem by Tómas Guðmundsson.
A good copy in excellent condition.
On autumn nights I walk alone from home
for my sorrow and joy await
the dark river, which we rush and rush
so heavy a burden is felt.
It came here long ago to meet me
every morning wrapped in the glory of the sun.
Tonight, it has a soothing song that carries
my last spring day at sea.
Yes, here I found centuries and fates
In the depths of the river flow,
and I heard the silence that lingered behind them,
which the sky and stars hold.
There the world that awaited awakening disappeared from me.
Every day of my life happened there
to a sacred song that touches the heart
so sad, painful and beautiful.
Then those spells settled in my soul,
which since then I was not allowed to defend myself.
And so it left me untouched by so much,
which inspired others to fight.
- I choose that blame because I know who it is,
The world that received me did not benefit.
But here I felt young in my heart
the sky that I could touch.
And I cater to the blind mind
to the autumn that awaits everyone.
And the soothing lament of the sacred river
from the hum to me.
I know and feel that it follows me.
through the fjord of the blue roads,
One late evening, your heart is pounding,
Oh, the beautiful autumn land of my sad homeland.
