Previously, Flóamanna saga had appeared in Danish in 1809 and then in a publication by Möbius and Guðbrandur Vigfússon in Leipzig in 1860.
King Harald Goldbeard ruled over Sogn. He married Sölvör, daughter of Earl Hundolf, sister of Earl Atli the Thin. Their daughters were Thora, who was married to King Halfdan the Black, the king of Uppling, and Thurid, who was married to Ketill Hellflag. King Harald the Young was the son of Halfdan and Thora. King Harald the Young gave him his name. King Harald the Goldenbeard died first of them, then Thora, then Harald the Young last, and then he brought the kingdom under Halfdan the Black, who placed Earl Atli the Thin over it. Then King Halfdan married Ragnhild, daughter of King Sigurd the Heart. Aslaug was the mother of Sigurd the Heart, daughter of Sigurd the Worm in the Eye, Ragnarson of Loðbrók. The mother of Sigurður the Snake-Eye was Áslaug, daughter of Sigurður Fáfnisban, son of Sigmundar, son of Völsung, son of Reris, son of Sigar, son of Óðinn, who ruled over Ásgard. Áslaug's mother was Brynhild Buðladóttir. The son of Hálfdan the Black and Ragnhild was Harald, who was first called Dofrafóstri, then Harald the Hairy, and lastly Harald the Fair-haired.
