Father's House. By Pál VG Kolka. - Páll VG Kolka (Páll Valdimar Guðmundsson Kolka), was a physician in the Westman Islands from 1920 to 1934. He was born at Torfalækur in Ásam on January 25, 1895. Páll died in Reykjavík in 1971. Páll was the son of farmer Guðmundur Guðmundsson and Ingibjörg Sólveigar Ingimundardóttir. His wife was Guðbjörg Guðmundsdóttir and they had 4 children. He became a student in Reykjavík in 1913 and then graduated from the University of Iceland in 1920. Páll pursued postgraduate studies abroad in both European countries and the United States. Páll practiced general medicine in the Westman Islands from 1920 to 1934 and was also a hospital physician there from 1930 to 1934. He was also appointed district physician from 1924 to the spring of 1925. Páll was appointed district physician in Blönduós in 1934 and held that position until the end of 1959. He represented Iceland at international medical conferences and various medical congresses and conferences. Páll took an active part in social and political affairs during his stay in the Westman Islands. He was a member of the town council there from 1926 to 1934 and was president of the town council from 1930 to 1934.
