The political party leaders caused great unrest in Vestur-Skaftafellssýsla and Rangárvallassýsla. Meetings were held in Múlakot on Síða, Vík in Mýrdal, in the meeting house at Sauðhúsavellur under the Eyjafjöll mountains and at Stórólfshvoli.
On behalf of the Conservative Party, the members of the Althingi Jón Þorláksson and Ólafur Tors and the editor Jón Kjartansson attended these meetings. On behalf of the Progressive Party, the Minister Jónas Jónasson and the members of the Althingi Ásgeir Ásgeirsson and Bjarni Ásgeirsson attended. On behalf of the Social Democrats, the members of the Althingi Jón Baldvinsson and Haraldur Guðmundsson attended. Sigurður Eggerz attended the last three meetings in person. In addition to these members, the editor of Tíman was present at all the meetings but did not participate in the discussions.
