From his hometown and the years of occupation. Narrative segments. Óskar Þórðarson from Hagar tells the story.
Óskar Þórðarson from Hagar was born in Fitjar in Skorradalur on June 5, 1920.
Óskar attended school at Reykholtsskóli from 1937 to 1939. After school, he hired himself out to a so-called "transport" boat in Hvalfjörður and worked on it during the war years. These years were some of the most memorable parts of his life. After the war, he worked in various jobs, such as at Þjóðviljan and at the Steindór Car Park, then trained as an electrician and worked there for many years. In the last years of his working life, he worked at the Purchasing Department of the Icelandic Railways (SÍS) in warehouse work.
