A foreign land. Diary excerpts from a trip to Iceland in 1863. Sir Charles HJ Anderson tells of his travels in Iceland. Böðvar Kvaran prepared the edition and translated it.
Sir Charles HJ Andersen came to Iceland with his son in 1863 to explore new, unknown lands, to seek out the untouched Icelandic nature and be moved by its grandeur and wonders. Various interesting places are mentioned as well as towns, where they stop and of course talk to the locals.
The translator of the book, Bödvar Kvaran, acquired the manuscript of the book in 1981, which had been received by the British antiquarian bookshop that year. Bödvar often includes explanations of points that the author has underlined and mentioned without explaining them in detail. (Cover text)
