Frontline. Conflicts and military areas in East Iceland during World War II. By Friðþór Eydal.
This book takes up the thread from the book Vígdrekar og vopnagnýr again. There, the author began to trace the activities of the warring nations and the role of the Icelandic military in World War II. This book presents for the first time the accounts of German submarine officers who ambushed ships off the East Fjords, their daring visits to Seyðisfjörður, and attacks on ships that disappeared without a trace.
Also reported for the first time are plans to build airports the size of Keflavík Airport in Aðaldalur and at Egilsstaðir, military bases there, and port facilities.
The book is based on sources from military authorities and descriptions from soldiers and eyewitnesses, presented with a number of previously unpublished photographs, drawings and explanations.
