The Birds. (Aves Islandiæ). By Bjarni Sæmundsson.
In Náttúrufræðdingn, 6th year, 2nd issue, 1936, the publication of Bjarni Sæmundsson's Bird Book is reported. "It can truly be said that the author of this book, Dr. Bjarni Sæmundsson, has made a few big mistakes. In 1926 his first book of this kind was published: Icelandic Animals I, The Fishes, in 1932 the next one came: Icelandic Animals II, The Mammals, and now the third one is coming about birds. When one considers the diverse work that has rested on his shoulders, also in later years, after he was relieved of his post as head teacher at the School of Education, and considering that he has written a great many essays since then, one cannot help but say that this is an achievement. Readers of the Naturalist will be familiar with many of the author's essays, both those that he has published in the magazine, and also those that he has written in various other magazines and which have been mentioned here."
