I am leaving the farm. A book of poems. Poems by Guðnýja Beinteinsdóttir. Sveinbjörn Beinteinssson writes the foreword.
This is Guðný Beinteinsdóttir's only book.
In Grafardalur in Borgarfjörður there was a farm of the same name. The couple Helga Pétursdóttir and Beinteinn Einarsson lived there. Their children grew to eight and all were inclined to write poetry. Books of poetry by Pétur, Einar, Sigríður and Sveinbjörn have been published. Now a book of poetry by Guðný Beinteinsdóttir has been added. She was born in Grafardalur on April 28, 1915. Guðný moved to Reykjavík at a young age and worked there for most of her life. She was rather reserved by nature and rarely revealed her thoughts. It is certain, however, that her mind was set on nursing, but her health did not allow her to pursue that work. Guðný was alert and had a good understanding of what she read, especially poetry. She was sensitive to music and undoubtedly had talent in that field. She was well-spoken and had an easy time throwing out verses. In later years she revisited her poems and added new ones. This book contains her most important poems and verses.
Guðný died on May 29, 1968. (Cover text).
