Bjarni Valtýr Guðjónsson is from Svarfhól in Hraunhreppur. In addition to other jobs, he has been involved in the arts, been a church organist for 70 years and has composed and arranged a number of songs that have been performed on various occasions and some of which have been published. In recent years, four original poetry books have seen the light of day from his hand, as well as one adventure story, one youth book and one translated novel. Bjarni Valtýr also wrote the story of the Bjarnar Hídælakappar Youth Society, Með vorblænum, which was published in 1974. He was the editor of Kaupfélagsritsinn for 17 years and Borgfjörðing for one year. In addition, he has various other writing jobs.
