Old sins - and new ones. Poem by Jón frá Ljárskógar.
Jón was born on March 28, 1914, in Ljárskógar in Laxárdalur. His parents were Jón Guðmundsson, a farmer and photographer, and his wife Anna Hallgrímsdóttir in Ljárskógar.
Jón attended Akureyri High School and graduated in 1934. During his school years, he and three of his friends founded the MA Quartet.
After completing his matriculation examination, Jón began studying theology at the University of Iceland, but dropped out and became a teacher at the Secondary School of Theology in Ísafjörður.
His wife was Jónína Kristjánsdóttir from Ísafjörður and they had one son, Hilmar Braga.
Jón died on October 7, 1945 in Vífilsstaðir, at the age of just over thirty.
