In the Garden of Sæmundur the Wise. Lectures from a conference at the National Museum on May 20, 2006. Editors Gunnar Harðarson and Sverrir Tómasson.
In 2006, the Oddafélagið, Árnastofnun and the Institute of Philosophy held a conference on Sæmund the Wise to mark the 950th anniversary of Sæmund's birth (1056–1133). The first part of the book contains printed papers from the conference, while the second part contains Árni Magnússon's Ævi Sæmundur fróða, which has not previously been published in Icelandic.
In recent decades, scholarly writings have brought forth new ideas about Sæmundur, his studies, and his contributions, leading to a reconsideration of various aspects of his history. The articles in the book each address these ideas in their own way.
Authors and translators of the material are: Árni Magnússon, Edward Booth, Garðar Gíslason, Gottskálk Jensson, Gunnar Harðarson, Helgi Skúli Kjartansson, John Marenbon, Sverrir Tómasson and Þorkell Örn Ólason.
