Grim guarded the sheep. Poem by Steingrímur Baldvinsson. Illustrated by Þorri Hringsson. Introduction written by Helgi Hálfdanarson.
This is a narrative poem that stems from true events from the past century and tells the story of the adventures of Þorgrímur Pétursson, Steingrímur's grandfather, who was caught in an avalanche and nearly drowned in the Laxá River, but was saved through perseverance and manliness.

The poem was written by Steingrímur in the early 1940s. Its tone and poetic style are reminiscent of its time, and it is traditional in form and content. Steingrímur is a very good poet and pays attention to form and structure, and it is a sign of the author's skill and taste how well he takes care to adapt the style to the nature of the story each time.
