Our old gods along with Snorri's Edda in Guðrún Nordal's edition.
The book is actually two books in one: The first part, Our Old Gods, is the work of Sölvi Sveinsson, which discusses Ósatrú and the culture of the Nordic medieval people from a historical perspective, and Ósatrú is examined in the context of other religions. Sölvi's book was published in a pilot edition more than a decade ago but has been extensively revised and improved. The second part is a new edition of the Snorri Edda edited by Guðrún Nordal with detailed glossaries. In this edition, a part of the Snorri Edda is published, namely the Prologue, Gylfaginning and the narrative chapters in Skáldskaparmál.
In Skáldskaparmál, young poets are addressed, and it is likely that Snorri-Edda was initially intended as a textbook in poetry. It is therefore ideal for teaching and is still today one of the best textbooks available for learning about pagan beliefs and ancient poetry, both eddic poems and drótt poems.
