Gísli Indriðason is originally from Eyfjordur, born at Kjarni near Akureyri in 1903, but raised in Garðshorn in Kræklingahlíð from the age of 4 to 16 by Captain Guðmundur Tryggvason, who lived there. He began his seafaring career as a young man on Dröfn, a ship belonging to the Höfða Brothers, with Captain Siguról Tryggvason, Guðmundur's brother, and then spent time at Laxamýri with Agil and Jóhannes Sigurjónsson, and still remembers how day after day three horse-drawn carriages of the most expensive salmon were pulled ashore, smoked at home and then sent to Þórður Guðjohnsen, who brought them to the foreign market. Gísli spent some time in North Þingeyjarsýsla, and then intended to study for a master's degree, then he attended the Secondary School in Akureyri for two winters and intended to continue his studies, but this did not happen due to lack of funds. He then moved east to the mainland and was first a sailor in Fáskrúðsfjörður, later a teacher there and in Eskifjörður and finally a customs officer in Seyðisfjörður. From there he moved to Ísafjörður and was a customs officer there and finally lived for years in Siglufjörður, many of which were as a post and telephone representative. Finally, the path lay to Reykjavík and there he has held various trade and business positions.
