Golden Rain from the poems of Páll Ólafsson. Compiled by Björn Þorsteinsson.
The time
Then I want you to fly happily like a swallow,
as the mountains and glaciers stand then,
Restlessly, your cold reaches its coolness,
so that the heart in my chest doesn't feel like it's beating,
you just let me look back
on the life I have been able to spend in guilt,
to push you forward or to take the reins,
and delay you, that is equally impossible.
But when the sun finally sets
and the sunbeam announces to me heavenly peace,
and then I want you to wait and wait
and beg you with tears to stand now,
Then I think the devil will take your feathers,
Then you fly quickly with that moment of joy.
Yes, you are cursed by me just like everyone else,
useless and cold-hearted.
