Festival Poems 1968. 26 non-awarded poems.
The University of Iceland Student Association held a poetry competition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Iceland's independence. However, none of the submitted poems were deemed worthy of a prize. The results of the competition attracted attention and prompted Sverrir Kristjánsson to contact the poets who had participated in the competition with the aim of obtaining permission to publish their poems. The book was accompanied by a ballot where buyers of the book were asked, first, whether any of the poems were worthy of a prize and, second, which poem they thought was the best.
Here are poems by Maríus Ólafsson, Kristinn Reyr, Hugrúna, Árni G. Eylands, Jónas S. Jakobsson, Bjarni frá Hörgsholti, Þóroddur frá Sandi, Einar J. Eyjólfsson, Ragnar Jóhannesson, Þorsteinn Valdimarsson, HJ Þórðarson, Lárus Salómonsson, Björn H. Björnsson, Ármann Dalmannsson, Jón G. Pálsson, Tryggvi Emilsson, Pétur Aðalsteinsson, Ragnar Jóhannesson, Kristján frá Djúpalækur, Hannes H. Jónsson, Katrín Jósepsdóttir and Benedikt frá Hofteigi.
