The author of this book of poems is Sveinbjörn Beinteinsson from Dragháls in Svínadalur. He is the youngest of eight siblings from Grafardalur. His parents were the couple Helga Pétursdóttir and Beinteinn Einarsson. In their home, poetry writing and songwriting were a daily activity, which Sveinbjörn took with his mother's milk. He was born on July 4, 1924, and the book is published on the occasion of his 60th birthday on July 4, 1984.
Sveinbjörn has lived in Dragháls since 1934 and has been a farmer since 1944. He has published four collections of poetry, and in addition "Bragfræði og háttatal" (1953), a textbook in rhyme and poetics. Many of his poems have appeared in newspapers and magazines. For over a decade he has been the general patron of the Ásatrúarfélag (Associated Society) and is known to many both at home and abroad because of his work.
