Home life. Lecture by Ólafur Ólafsson, pastor of Guttormashagi. Held at Eyrarbakki on February 25th and 26th, 1889.
Reverend Ólafur says here, among other things; "Women are usually allowed to do the work in every home that most men would not touch with the slightest finger: they wash their own and others' excrement, wash the floors, are in the barn, etc. Now, now! When they go into labor, they take on the jobs that men find very difficult and bad, being in the garden and tending the livestock, and this in addition to their usual work."
