I often have a poetic hope. Verses and conversation. Birgir Hartmannsson composes and talks to readers.
Birgir Hartmannsson was born in the north of Fljót in Skagafjörður on October 19, 1937. He grew up doing the usual farm work of the time, before machines replaced manual labor.
Early on he began composing verses, especially when something humorous came up. In 1989 he published the book Gatan syngur gleðliglag . It consisted of occasional verses, ditties and poems, as well as other light-hearted material, all related to horses and horsemanship.
This book, which is now coming before the public, contains over 470 verses. All of them are four-hand poems, either free verse or short rhymes. The material is of various kinds and spans a period of nearly 60 years. (Cover text).
