Björn Bragi Magnússon was born in Reykjavík in 1940, a printer and writer in Reykjavík. He left behind two books of poetry, Hófatak (1956) and Dögg í grasi (1958). Björn Bragi drowned at the age of only 23 in 1963. Björn Bragi's best-known poem is undoubtedly Hvítir máfar (White Seagulls), sung by Helena Eyjólfsdóttir.
