The Port. The History of Hafnarfjörður Harbour. Text by Björn Pétursson and Steinunn Þorsteinsdóttir.
The harbor is a story of greatness, development and power that characterizes the town that is named after it. A story of people who had dreams of a strong community, built around a fjord bottom that was created from lava. The story is intertwined with the story of the town because neither, the harbor nor the town, can exist without the other. Historians Björn Pétursson and Steinunn Þorsteinsdóttir build the story on short stories, based on stories and sources that have been collected over time and arrange the fragments together into a hundred-year whole. The story is also told with a number of photographs, some of which have never before been published in print. Photos that photographer Lárus Karl Ingason has selected for the story. (Bókatíðindi 2012).
