Gone Days. Poem by Jakobína Þormóðsdóttir. Written by Ingólfur Jónsson from Prestsbakki - A few words about the author.
Jakobína Þormóðsdóttir was born in Kópasker on June 17, 1962. She died on April 30, 2002.
Jakobína suffered from a disease that left her blind, deaf and disabled at a young age. Mentally she was healthy, organized and strong. Her memory was exceptionally good. Her interests were many. Horfnir dagar is Jakobína's first and only book.
Spring sun
Spring comes and the flowers awaken,
The weather is warming and the spring sun is rising early,
All ice is removed from rivers and lakes
and the cold snow disappears,
The birds are chirping and all the plants are growing,
The river flows clear through the gorge.
We welcome spring the most.
The spring night is bright and mild.
Then in the evening the spring sun sets.
The summer hours are now long and good.
