Sigurlinni was born on December 12, 1899 in Skáladalur in Aðalvíkursøk, Sléttuhreppur in N-Ísafjörður County. Sigurlinni Pétursson is said to have studied carpentry in Ísafjörður 1918-21, house building and wood carving in Copenhagen. He built a multi-storey house in Garðabær and participated in the reconstruction of Garðakirkja.
