Wherever I am. Poem by Ingibjörga Haraldsdóttir.
It has been eight years since Ingibjörg published her poetry collection Höfuð konunnan, which at the time received excellent reviews from critics and a warm reception from readers. Ingibjörg's sixth poetry collection, she writes about the transience of life, its cruelty and intransigence, the very urge to live in the face of destruction, and a long-gone era in the midst of the breath that was passing. An impressive and solid work by one of our finest poets. ( Bókatíðindi 2002).
The woman in the mirror
The woman in the mirror
winds up
turns his back on me
stretches the shoulder blades
slowly flip them
takes off
flies
up and to the right
out of the picture
super slow
the last thing I see
is the shoe
on the left foot
